PACKAGING
Packaging is a crucial operation in the shipping process.
The packaging must perform the following functions:
- Identification:
The packaging ensures the identification of the consignment. The package must bear both the sender’s and the addressee’s details visibly, legibly and indelibly throughout transit. They must resist the effects of movement, pressure and loading during shipment.
- Integrity of value:
The packaging must protect the consignment from the effects of movement, pressure and loading during shipment. The proper packing of fragile items which ensures their damage-free shipment is crucial.
- Preservation of value:
The packaging must ensure that the package’s contents cannot be accessed by unauthorized persons. An intact packaging confirms that the consignment has reached its destination with its original contents. Therefore, the packaging must always be enclosed, possess a continuous surface and be resistant to impacts during transit.
If there are signs of damage on the packaging, the consignment’s contents should be checked on acceptance!
- Content guarantee:
The sender must declare the content and value of the consignment and that it does not contain items whose transportation is prohibited or illegal. The Sender shall bear all associated legal consequences if a false declaration is made.
